Requirements

Check the verified WordPress, PHP, storage, cron, mail, and permission requirements.

Minimum software

Both current Forms packages declare these minimum versions:
Requirement Minimum
WordPress 6.2
PHP 8.1
The site needs a writable database, working WordPress scheduled tasks, and HTTPS on public forms. File uploads also require an absolute, writable directory outside the public document root; the plugin refuses a detected public upload path.

Prepare the site

  1. Back up the database and private upload storage.
  2. Confirm the administrator can install plugins and manage Forms settings.
  3. Confirm WordPress cron runs reliably; low-traffic sites may need a server scheduler.
  4. Configure one established SMTP or transactional-mail plugin if notifications are required.
  5. Review PHP upload size, request size, and execution limits before accepting files.
  6. Test the form on the real theme at mobile, tablet, and desktop widths.
